Isn’t Karate just for kids...
Well of course not, did you know that karate was developed as a self-defense system using only hands and feet.

I wish I didn't get so out of breath...
The original masters also discovered that using muscle tension and relaxation (dynamic tension) coupled with the correct breath control was also very beneficial to general health and well being.

I would like to learn Self Defence not just 'kicking and punching'...
Our system of karate  is one of the oldest Karate systems and has a very comprehensive range of self-defense and fighting techniques including throws and wristlocks. It is fair to say however that we do kick and punch also.

I’m going to feel embarrassed...
So is everyone when they first start. That’s completely normal and soon forgotten once you learn a few techniques and get a little fitter.

What if I can’t keep up with the others?
Who cares? You are there for yourself it’s not a race. Our students are encouraged to improve at their own pace. Should you need extra tuition we can give it. You are there to enjoy yourself and learn something new. Remember no one is born an expert.

Yes but I’m too old to start Karate...
Nonsense, if you can walk unassisted into the training room, you can practice karate.

What if I turn out to be a brilliant fighter and want to be the next world karate champion?
In that case you can try out for our Association National Squad. We take part in both international and national tournaments.  

Can women do karate as well as men?
One of the key elements to learning a Martial Art is patience need we say more.
